Last Sunday, January 17, the presentation of 8 children who were recently born in our Church took place. At this time, our pastor David Castillo, made us reflect through Psalm 127: 3-5 (TLA).
As we learn to parent we realize that our own life is transformed; because we learn to deny ourselves, sacrifice ourselves, give them our best and change what we do wrong because we don't want it for them. That demands a change from us. The Nobel Prize in Literature José Saramago wrote: "May God bless our children because those of us who are parents have already been blessed with them."
In a solemn act, as we learn from our Lord in Matthew 19: 13-15 he blessed the babies, he also led the parents to commit to teach him about Our Lord and be an example for them and do as he says in Deuteronomy 6: 4- 9, also led the Church to commit itself to being a reference for these babies; at the same time giving clarity that said act is not a baptism, since baptism implies the action of believing in the sacrifice that Jesus made for us and babies are still young to understand said act.
